VINIFICATION :
The grapes were stemmed and pressed, and fermented in stainless steel tanks at controlled temperature (26°-28°); maceration on the skins lasted for about 15 days.
Malolactic fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks.
The wines were assembled and matured both in steel vats and in second-hand French oak barrels, for about 12 months.

TASTING NOTES:
Once marketed as a Chianti, this wine, essentially a single-vineyard selection, has taken on a new personality with the carefully studied addition of Malvasia Nera and Cabernet Sauvignon to the blend and an attentive aging in previously used oak barrels.

As a result, there is a clear increase in the wine's aromatic finesse and complexity without excessive oakiness affecting the fruit.

Attractive perfumes of currant, berry and vanilla follow through to a medium-bodied palate, with fine tannins and a fresh, clean finish. Delicious.

Informations:  Positioned on the River Arno halfway between Florence and Pisa, Fattoria Montellori is based in the town of Fucheccio with vineyards in the surrounding area. The winery has been producing wine for over 50 years and has recently decided to modernize its operation. While still employing the use of 30-100 hl resin-lined square concrete tanks for fermentation,

Montellori has now embraced the trend towards Stainless Steel. There are now rows of standard as well as temperature controlled vessels principally for storage but also fermentation. A barrel hall with a range of French barriques of various origin, age and toasting accommodates the maturation of Chianti and French varietals, both red and white.
